I grew up loving Boston sports radio. Specifically 98.5 The Sports Hub. It had such a unique and intrinsic sound. The shouting matches between these wicked smart sports fans were a defining part of my childhood. It was my dream as a kid to joyride with the windows down and call into the radio station.
But calling in while in the car is dangerous. And no one talks about it.
The National Safety Council reports that cell phone use while driving leads to 1.6 million crashes each year.
Interacting with sports talk radio is great, but it can also attribute to distracted driving.
So, to help the Massachusetts Department of Transportation promote hands-free driving, I created my own 98.5 The Sports Hub radio host: DOT TONY. By creating three audio spots, we reminded Boston Fans to drive safe and keep both hands on the wheel.
