Cast #1
Thanks Katie,
Going into halftime, there were certainly a lot of glaring problems with the Syracuse offense. For starters, they had put up only 3 points in the first half. But arguably the more pressing matter was the play of Garret Schrader. The QB only had 35 yards on 4 completions at halftime. There were several factors that went into the win, but Head Coach Dino Babers credited the offense’s success to leadership.
Well, leadership may be one, but Shrader had to get it done on the field, too, and he did.
However, that all changed after the break, where Schrader proceeded to lead his team to an outstanding 29-point second half, including 22 points in the last 8 minutes of play. Schrader himself bounced back, ending the game with 181 yards as well as 3 touchdown passes. It won’t be easy for the redshirt junior on Friday against Virginia, though. The Cavaliers have a top 5 pass defense in the ACC. Join us at 6:30 for the Countdown to Kickoff.
The football team improves to a 3-0 start, marking it as their best start to a season since 2018.
Another squad that has gotten off to a streaky start to their year is the third-ranked Men’s Soccer team. SU took down Colgate last night 2-0, who have started to improve to 7-0-1 after a 2-0 win at Colgate. Forward John Smith scored both goals; he has 7 on the season, which leads the ACC. As it stands now, the nationally ranked Orange have been recognized as the 3rd best team in the nation and could potentially clinch the #1 seed, barring a few more wins.
Speaking of clinches, the New York Mets recently clinched a playoff berth for the MLB Postseason. With less than 2 weeks left in the regular season, the Mets currently hold the 2nd seed in the National League. However, the Mets can’t get too comfy with the 3rd-seeded Atlanta Braves right on their tail. Lucky enough for the Metro City squad, they venture to Atlanta for a 3-game series starting on the 30th, where they plan to hold off their division rival’s pursuit of the #2 seed.
